Our Background...
Owners of Oriental Rug Palace, Niranjan and Asha Agarwal had been
exporting rugs for years before moving to the
United States from India in 1983.
Niranjan, known to his friends and clients as Nikki, began
importing rugs and supplied retailers around the area.
In 1989 the Agarwals opened up their own retail storefront,
Oriental Rug Palace, featuring individually selected handmade rugs as
well as cleaning, repair and appraisal services.
In 2004 after fifteen years and three addresses, the Agarwals expanded
their 8,000 square foot Oriental rug showroom to include the 5,400sq/ft
Royal Furniture Gallery.
With the new ability to offer furniture, lighting and
accessories, the already stable company was given new life.
In the fall of 2006, Nikki and Asha teamed up with a local interior
designer, Dana Carlton-Flint, ASID. While owning her own design business
and 14 years experience, Dana began officing out of Oriental Rug
Palace to assist with the
buying and merchandising of the furniture and accessories.
One year later Oriental
Rug Palace
had its sights set on creating a much needed design resource.
Adding Interior Designer Rachel Bogers, Allied Member ASID
allowed them to develop a setting that would introduce design solutions,
custom and in-stock furniture, accessories, rugs, lighting, and the
whole gamut. Outside
designers would also have access to purchase though the company or even
give full presentations to their clientele.
On September 12, 2007 the ORP Design Center was created.
The Design Center allows interior designers an outlet for filling
their client’s interior design needs and the public a chance to not only
shop at the store, but the ability to acquire a designer look.

We have come a long way since 1983. We will continue to expand, grow,
and offer services and products to meet the wishes of both our public
and professional clients.
Thank you for 25 years!
